New VDMSound version out (for ages)

What is VDMSound you may ask?

Well, VDMSound is a tool which somehow emulates old sound- and control-hardware for even older games and makes them working even on the newest Windows XP or Windows 2000 if there exists no patch for that game for this purpose. Great tool for running my loved System Shock. (See here and here if you want to try that game yourself). But I also have managed to get Populous, Dune, Dune2, Might and Magic, STTNG: A final unity and many others running through it. Only very few programs still completely refuse to run at all with it.

Yes, I know, this "new" version already dates back on 2003 but because when I tried to search on the internet for VMDSound I only found versions like 2.0.4 or else linked.

But deep burried after dozens of hops I came to a site where version 2.1.0 is offered. Public beta, sure, but when it remained unchanged since 2003 I consider it quite stable.

And that's why I'm now directly linking to the VDMSound 2.1.0 PUBLIC BETA thread here, to make it a bit easier to locate around in the web.

Where's my money?

It's now longer than a month since my car has been shortened and I'm still waiting for the money from the insurance company.

I badly need that cash to be able to buy a new (well, not completely new) car and be able to drive around on my own again.

My first LARP experience

This weekend my fianc? and I attended a LARP, a live action fantasy role playing game.

I was a bit unsure of what to expect at first but during play we had much fun and it went quite smoothly. Of course there were some mistakes or unpredictables on both sides, players and game-leaders, but all in all everyone had much fun.

Except for one incident: A neighbour of the castle where everything occoured came by, shouted at us and attacked and injured my fianc without reason. Pulling hairs and scratching skin is not a gentlemens way of telling "Leave my property!" especially if we AREN'T on his property... We then called the police and went to the hospital for checks. This surely can end in a penalty for this rude farmer.

Nevertheless, thanks to the team from Zeitschmiede for this new experience!

Project weirdness

And today the whole project situation has changed once more.

I have been assigned out of the project I was staffed into.

What's good about that is that I can continue to support our existing customers, the bad part is that I'm quite lonely around in the room now.

Perhaps I now can listen to webradios by speakers not headphones, have to try.

Back @ work

Yeah, first day back at work and I'm in the middle of nowhere. When I came to my workplace I was the last one left there, all others have moved (again).

After a while I found out, that I've been staffed to a new project and have got new tasks to do...

...and I have to move out again too.

Well, I hope I can enter the new project fast and that the company doesn't let the old customers down.

Lifesign

Just wanted to post a quick lifesign. I'm still here but hadn't the time or mood to post something.

The laptop is still on his journey and I'fe been busy searching and evaluating possible new cars.

At company the workload has suddenly dropped quite a lot and I have a hard time keeping busy with something to be not bored to death. I try to bring up productive and useful stuff but that is not easy when there is not much to do.

This friday the inventory for our new kitchen should be delivered and next week I'll be on vacation again.
